Historical Context Printed in late 1915 under Governor José Inés Dávila during Oaxaca's period of declared state sovereignty (soberanista movement). By November 1915, the autonomous state treasury had been issuing scrip for several months to fund its civil operations and local militia while resisting the encroaching Constitutionalist armies of Venustiano Carranza. The high serial number (1260932) reflects the heavy volume of 1 Peso notes generated late in the year to keep pace with wartime inflation and the lack of federal coin.
