Historical Context
-
Design Recycled from the 5 Bolívares Note: This note continues the emergency practice of reusing existing banknote plates during the hyperinflation crisis. The Central Bank reused the exact portrait of Pedro Camejo and the Giant Armadillos from the 2008–2011 5 Bolívares note, shifting the color palette from orange/amber to purple and updating the denomination text to "1000 MIL BOLÍVARES".
-
Emergency Lifespan: Authorized in early 2017 to relieve acute cash shortages, this note was officially demonetized roughly 17 months later on August 20, 2018, when the Bolívar Soberano monetary reform took effect.
